This Ketubah is based on several medieval motifs taken from Hebrew illuminated manuscripts and is rich in color, symbolism and history. The pillars and upper motifs were inspired by a 13th century prayer book found in Southern Germany. The word "Ketubah" in the center arch is based on an Italian Book of Psalms, and the red filigree is from a 15th century bible found in Barcelona, Spain. The top panel contains symbols of Jewish life used in both medieval and contemporary times.
