Passover for Kids

Children are the stars of the Passover Seder. The format of the meal highlights the transmission of Jewish values from one generation to the next. Many rituals, like the Four Questions and Afikomen, put children at center stage, creating an interactive experience for them. Passover-themed games, toys, crafts, and books help augment the Seder experience and give kids of all ages a chance to enjoy tradition in a hands-on way.

Passover for Toddlers

There are many ways to engage a toddler celebrating their first Passover. Age-appropriate toys like My Soft Seder introduce infants and toddlers to the symbolic Seder plate, while useful accessories like the “Who Stole My Matzah” Bib allow them to join the rest of the family at the meal without making a huge mess. Toddlers will also enjoy quality time spent with parents and siblings reading fun board books, such as A Touch of Passover

Passover for Young Children

Many young children look forward all year to the Seder. For once they’ll be allowed to stay up late and they get to show off their skills when they recite the Mah Nishtanah and steal the Afikomen.

To make Seder night all the more special, consider toys that make the Exodus story an immersive experience. The Ten Plagues Finger Puppets or Jumping Matzah Balls will delight your child while helping them connect to ancient Jewish history.

Don’t stop with the Seder, though. Let the fun continue throughout the week with games like Passover Bingo and exciting books like Lotsa Matza

Passover for Preteens

Preteens are ready to take Passover to the next level. Make the holiday exciting by having them help plan Seder and Passover activities. For the truly intrepid, grab a copy of Tamar Ansch’s Let My Children Cook! and let your kids whip up some Passover goodies for the whole family. You can also let preteens choose Seder surprises for the rest of the family, like Flip Frogs, or fun Passover Wiggly Straws.

There are also numerous crafts, like Passover Sand Art, that your preteen can use to create special works of art to display over the holiday, and plenty of engaging books, such as Pesach With Bina, Benny, and Chaggai Hayona, that begin deepening their understanding of Passover and its lessons.

Finally, let your preteen browse Judaica.com’s extensive Haggadah selection so they can pick out their own, personal Passover Haggadah that will make their Seder experience all the more special.
