    Doron / Drew Noll - www.doronoll.com

Drew, having grown up in the Los Angeles area of California, was influenced by an art movement that has since come to be known as Pop Surrealism or Lowbrow, which has its roots in the Los Angeles area during the 1970s. Drew studied art at the University of California in Santa Barbara where he developed his interest in public works, such as murals and installations. Attending graduate school at U. C. Irvine he was further influenced towards Conceptual Art, as well as creating works loosely based upon Kabbalah and mysticism. Once graduating with an MFA, he moved to Santa Monica, California, where he worked for M.O.C.A and the J. Paul Getty museums as an art handler. At that time, even though Drew’s work began to move into a more urban dimension, having been involved with performance and street art for a time, his true passion always remained visual storytelling and mysticism.

Leaving the vibrant LA art scene was difficult for Drew, but being an avid outdoor enthusiast the prospect of mountain biking and snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains drew him to Boulder, Colorado. There he continued to be successful with his career in art, developing further the craft he had begun in graduate school of oil painting on panels. For the most part, his subject matter remained the same, a humorous (Lowbrow) world view based upon hidden truths. As well, earning a living during the time Drew spent in Colorado required him to tap into his roots as the grandson of a carpenter by creating a custom woodworking business where he designed, built, and installed custom kitchens, store fixtures, and furniture for various clients in the area.

In 2006, Drew moved with his family to Zikhron Yaakov, Israel, a place that reminded him of his roots in Southern California. Along with drawing, painting, and the occasional woodworking project, Drew is a certified technical communicator and has worked in Israel as a marketing writer, document manager, and a web designer. Drew also writes both a professional blog relating to his art projects, and a personal blog, which mostly revolves around his adventures as a new immigrant to the Middle East, his other travels around the globe, and his personal thoughts and experiences relating to his life and artwork.

Drew is currently partnering in the creation of a local art center in Zikhron Yaakov that will feature art instruction in two separate studios, a professional art gallery to showcase local and regional artists, and a coffee house with an intimate setting for poetry readings, story telling, and live acoustic music. The Zikhron Art Center will open its doors to the public in September of 2017.
