8 Judaica Fall Faves

Fall Faves

Welcome to the Fall!

As you say goodbye to the Sukkah and head indoors after the rush of the High Holidays, you might be giving your house a critical once-over. After all, you’ll be indoors most of the time for the next few months as fall and winter set in. This makes autumn the perfect time to update your home, making it a comfortable, cozy nest for the cold weather ahead.

When redecorating for fall, warm and rustic tones provide just the right touch. Look for colors that mimic the natural hues found in nature: vibrant reds, woodsy browns, and golden yellows. Brassy and copper metallics will further add a dash of fall to your furniture, walls, countertops, or wherever else they’re used. Think, too, of including images from nature itself: designs and patterns depicting leaves, and fields and harvest fruits. On the Jewish calendar, now is also the perfect time to start collecting Chanukah accents as we gear towards that holiday.

The following pieces are great year-round, but they each can add a little extra punch to your fall update. Use them as a starting point and then head to our home decor section to find even more autumn-inspired items!

There’s no better place to start redecorating than your front door! Usher your family and guests inside under the protection of a traditional mezuzah, made trendy with a Pomegranate Stainless Steel Case by Israeli artist Yair Emanuel. The hammered gold leaves and pomegranates fit right in with the fall theme while being versatile enough to keep your door chic year round.

Another excellent piece from Yair Emanuel is this Golden Grapes Challah Board. The laser-carved wood, paired with gold leaves and branches, evokes rustic charm while remaining modern. You can actually see the wood grain, giving every board a distinctive look. Add some freshly baked loaves and your table should look bountiful this fall.

Hammered Washing Cup

Of course, a new challah board calls for a new washing cup as well! Consider pairing yours with a Hammered Washing Cup with Brass Pomegranate Handles. Made by Karshi Studio Designs in the Old City of Jerusalem, this stainless steel washing cup will add a burst of autumn to your kitchen.

When refreshing your look for autumn, make sure not to neglect your walls. There’s a tradition to place a reminder of Jerusalem on the wall of your home that faces Jerusalem, and there’s no better way to do so than with this Mizrach Home Blessing. Artist Mickie Klugman-Caspi is not only a talented calligrapher and artist, but an avid gardener as well, and this print highlights her familiarity with a rich harvest. In addition to the home blessing, Klugman-Caspi uses fall colors to illustrate the seven fruits of Israel. The gold frame will add yet another layer of color to any room.

For another wall option, take a look at the Jerusalem Sunrise Mizrach Art Print from artist Michal Bogdanow. These limited prints depict a pastoral Israeli scene, inspired by Psalms. While the colors match a fall palate, the meaningful imagery works for every day of the year.

Looking towards the upcoming holiday of Hannukah, why wait to start displaying some holiday color? The Quest Collection’s Rustic Leaf Dreidel is the perfect display piece for your mantel or coffee table! Made of gold-plated brass filigree, hand painted and enameled, this dreidel is a statement piece you won’t want to put away even after the eighth candle has burned down.

Fancy Menorah

On the subject of candles, your menorah doesn’t have to be purely utilitarian. The Copper Glow Menorah from Jerry Rosenbloom blends copper and stone to create a work of art that will add warmth to your home all fall and winter, and beauty during spring and summer. Use it as a centerpiece on your mantel or bookshelf before moving it to the window for the holiday.

Finally, fall is family time. When you gather together on crisp cool nights, make sure to have some good books on hand for the kids. We recommend The Secret of the Leaves by Esther van Handel, illustrated by Chagit Migron. It has a powerful message and the fun illustrations will make this a favorite at bedtime!

And that wraps up our list of fall faves for the upcoming season to kickstart your autumn indoor update. Happy Shopping, and stay warm!
