How to Keep Teens Entertained at the Seder

A-Z Planning

When putting together a seder for teens or preteens, get them involved from beginning to end. They can plan the program, prepare for it, and take turns running the seder. There are countless ways to make the seder more exciting - costumes, skits, songs, matzah and maror eating contests, a delicious menu - but it will be much more meaningful, memorable, and fun if the teens themselves get to take charge. Start by giving each one a job, whether it’s shopping for paper goods, dreaming up decorations, and organizing games for the seder. They should all be made to feel needed and important.

Have a Chocolate Seder

A chocolate seder is always a great way to get teens involved and aware of what is coming up next at the seder because it is a long night!

Get into Character

Dress up like your favorite character from the Passover story whether Jew or Egyptian. Put on a skit during the seder, either rehearsed or spontaneously improv.
