Rabbi Tuvia Teldon’s new book, Your Unique Purpose, began with a simple observation.

The regional director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Long Island since 1977, Rabbi Teldon has studied Hayom Yom daily like countless others for decades. This anthology of Chassidic wisdom, compiled by the Rebbe—Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory—offers teachings for each day of the year, and specific entries around the theme of purpose stood out to him year after year.

After gathering 36 notable selections, Rabbi Teldon discovered seven distinct themes, which became the framework for his book: a practical guide rooted in the Rebbe’s daily wisdom for finding one’s individual mission in G-d’s cosmic plan. Rather than the usual self-help path to personal fulfillment, Rabbi Teldon's work asks what G-d wants from the reader, emphasizing every person’s unique and essential role in the world.

Your Unique Purpose is intentionally interactive, with a notebook-like format easy to carry for daily reflection. Each entry presents the original Hayom Yom in Hebrew and English, a brief “Life Lessons” commentary, and “Purpose Pointers” for practical application. Organized by seven themes—from “Torah and Mitzvot” to “Bringing Heaven Down to Earth”—the book offers accessible insight for novices and fresh perspectives for seasoned students.

Rabbi Teldon's approach is shaped by his personal journey, including the loss of his firstborn son and years of searching for meaning. This experience informs his belief that every circumstance, strength, and weakness has purpose through Divine providence.
