''I sculpted a piece years ago which had a concentric rippled surface. The piece haunted me with its simplicity and sense of connectedness to the natural world. I think events of nature such as raindrops falling on water, wind sweeping across sand, and ocean currents slowly smoothing a pebble mark our passage through time and make impressions, however fleeting, which gently leave a trace on the world.'' Variations or 'imperfections' in the product's finish are characteristic of the creation process. Due to this handmade nature, no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

About the Artist: Michael Aram is an American born artist who works primarily in metal. After studying fine art and living as an artist in New York in the late 1980's, Aram took what would later be a life-altering trip to India where he discovered rich metalworking traditions. Inspired to work with craftsmen whose skills he felt were greatly untapped, Aram turned his creative energies towards craft based design, setting up a home and workshop in New Delhi. Each Michael Aram metal object undergoes a series of grinding, buffing, and polishing techniques.
