In addition to the halakhic portions of the Talmud, there is also a great amount of aggadic narratives interspersed throughout the talmudic text - these are the non-halakhic teachings about theology, ethics, spirituality, psychology, health, and many other topics. This work offers commentary and scholarship on aggada, and especially about that portion of aggada in which the rabbis tell stories.
